What Is Work & Labour Studies?

Work & Labour Studies is an interdisciplinary program that explores the changing worlds of work, employment, and social justice. At McMaster, students examine how work is shaped by politics, economics, identity, and globalization – while engaging with unions, community organizations, and policy debates.

The program emphasizes critical thinking, advocacy, and real-world experience, preparing students to lead change in labour relations, law, health and safety, and public policy.
